Mardi Gras Parade & Celebration
Fat Tuesday, February 28th | 5pm-Midnight
Fat Tuesday is right around the corner and we are more excited than ever for Mardi Gras! But why are we partying? The tradition of Mardi Gras is a celebration of the feast before the fast. Starting in the late 1700s, Mardi Gras is a New Orleans tradition that occurs the day before Ash Wednesday, the Christian tradition “Lenten,” when you fast for a full 40 days. Mardi Gras is now a celebrated globally with indulgence, glam, and extravagance. We are ready to bring you a FEAST for your senses with more GLITZ, GLAM, and over the top extravagance at this year’s Gaslamp Mardi Gras Parade and Celebration on FAT Tuesday, February 28th!
Parades are a beloved tradition for Mardi Gras and ours is one that you will want to write home about! The first Mardi Gras parades featured bull heads which were paraded down the by men in elaborate masks. Today’s parades have evolved into much more elaborate and beautiful pieces of art. Floats range from elegant to satirical – Many krewes spend months preparing themes and constructing their floats. We may not have severed bull heads (Sorry!), but we DO have an in-credible lineup slated to bring you the best floats, dance groups, bands, double decker busses, and classic cars that will have you cheering for beads, beads, BEADS!
San Diego’s Gaslamp has celebrated Mardi Gras for over 23 years, and this year is going to be bigger, better, and more extravagant than ever before! The streets will be filled with music, DJ’s, dancers, performers, and of course BEADS!
Some of this year’s entrants include:
Déjà Vu Showgirls of San Diego
Dr. Bronner Magic Soaps
105.7 Max FM
Code 3 Props
San Diego Association of Car Clubs
The Top Shelf Brass Band
91X Radio/ Z90

And many MORE!
Don’t miss out on the BIGGEST Tuesday of 2017. There’s a reason we are world famous – find out fist-hand!
